I’m grateful to those in the LGBTQ community that came before me. Before there even was a community. They were braver than me, sacrificed more than me, and stood to be seen long before I did. Thanks to them I have been afforded the opportunity to live a life that is more open, fearless, and just plain better in every way. In turn, my kids have a different perspective on what it means to be gay than I did when I was their age. In fact, they are confused by the need to designate a month for that which, from their pov, already is. That’s progress.
