Als deutsche Truppen eine Woche später in ihrer Heimatstadt Lodz einmarschieren, ist Esther Wallheimer 12 Jahre alt. Ein paar Monate später muss sie mit ihrer Familie in das von den Besatzern eingerichtete Ghetto ziehen. 1944 wird sie schließlich nach Auschwitz verschleppt und von dort weiter in die Zwangsarbeitslager Christianstadt und Kratzau. Esther überlebt. Aus ihrem Zeitzeugenbericht »Ein riesiges Gefängnis.
