First time voters! Sooo there’s a whole other side to voting that isn’t really talked about, and that’s all the local elections and propositions that are also on the ballot. I’m not gonna lie, this part of voting always makes me a teensy weensy bit anxious, because these local races and props, are also very important, but there is obviously way less information about them. And the ballots are uhhh…well they are slightly confusing. Everything kinda feels like a trick question. But don’t be intimidated! Just be prepared!
Here’s how I prepare:
-I call trusted friends and family members and ask their opinions on different props or races.
-I take notes throughout the weeks leading up to voting.
-And the last thing I do, is I just…google the shit out of everything!
(Hence me whipping out the computer to double check it all in the video above!!)

My favorite source is Ballotpedia.org it gives clear organized info about federal elections, down to state elections, and even bigger local races and props. And it’s all non partisan.
I also find local newspapers that I trust helpful in giving me the right info.

Google. That. Shit. But also like, be smart about where your getting your info from cause the internet is scary.
So to the young voters who might be intimated by all this, don’t be! You amazing badass queens, you have lived through a recession, a pandemic, and A Cheeto being president, you got this!

I can not tell you how many Asian American friends/family that I have, who’ve called me in tears overcome with anxiety and fear due to the uprising of racist rhetoric that “OUR PRESIDENT” is single handedly igniting around the country (NOT just with Asians, but with EVERY minority).
