Our baby has left us. Isobel 95 years old. Mostly the warmest heart. A total cunt the rest of the time. But she is a cat so it’s within her nature. Oh Isobel we love you so much. Hearts are broken over here for this beautiful angel.

4. #40over35 @rogerrosswilliams is an icon … the first Black man to win an Oscar for a film he directed. He has made so many incredible films including Life Animated, God Loves Uganda … The Donna Summers documentary “Love to Love You” coming out in May … and he also just directed his first scripted feature Cassandro which also comes out this year … and a ton of others and more coming out this year… iconic. He cracks me up every time I see him. Roger was on the jury at Sundance when we got our award so I will forever be grateful. He helped shape my career. ❤️
2. #40over35 I met @antonetaalamatkusijanovic at Cannes when she was debuting her fantastic film “Murina”. She was very pregnant walking out of a party that I was trying to get into. We didn’t know each-other but she recognized me and said “you better let this girl in the party”… that was some serious energy. @antonetaalamatkusijanovic is kind talented and a strong force of creativity. Her film was nominated for a Gotham and a Spirit award … very proud of her. She’s also funny fun and a wonderful mom.

Ok so I am back on my #40over35 … today is a tribute to a woman who has been a friend for many years and gave me my first directing job. @emma.v.reeves … I like to call her the queen of culture cause she has a genuine love and appreciation of all things in the world that is creative. Her range is wider then anybody I have ever met (besides myself) … but she’s also been a part of so many movements such as helping to launch and create @freethework … but also working as creative director at @dazed … currently photo director @rollingstone … she’s a legend and completely one of a kind. Once she ditched a fancy after party to spend time with @ddwifi and his friends who were mourning their childhood friend. She kept the spirits up and even learned to dance the salsa. I love you @emma.v.reeves

Back on my #40over35 … @breez_lance is an old friend. Brianna is a hilarious deadpan science nerd. She’s always been super creative… but recently she has committed to putting all her her energy into her painting. I’m so proud of her because I’m loving what she is up to. Reminder that we can always go after the one thing we care about deeply at that time. Recently I’ve been thinking about changing my career to modern dance. X p.s. go see her show

5. For the #40over35 series I have one of my most favorite people on this planet. Duccio Fabbri @ita.big.nose .. We work together … technically he is an AD but has become so important to my process when creating work … Duccio is also a director of a beautiful film “Sqizo”… and an incredible father to two boys. Most importantly he is a comedian. He keeps the vibes up. Truly the best gem to be found in this crazy business.
#3 #40over35 @johnnyandtawnee are the parents to these wonderful girls ( @superchillfan and @madroni_redclock ) I met through my old friend @lindseythornburg … they are an incredible artistic creative crew that I love spending time with. Below is a statement on their unique bag company : “Johnny and Tawnee” began in January of 1998 when they met. It was love at first sight. They made a pact to always stay together, work together, and start their own tribe. They are both members of the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma. Tawnee was taught by her mother how to make Native American art and in turn she taught it to Johnny. He instantly excelled at it and they began selling at Pow Wows and art shows. As their family grew to include two daughters they had to put down more permanent roots and settled in Las Vegas for seventeen years before making the move to New York City. They have kept their philosophy unchanged since their inception- 100% handmade out of the finest materials they can find. Their signature stitch cannot be replicated by machines. Johnny does every step from drafting the pattern to sewing the final stitch, and his goal is to create unique pieces that are equally works of art and everyday tough-as-nails bags. Johnny was born and raised in the country in Kansas. He is most at home in the desert, hiking and taking pictures. He is known as being a “walking petroglyph” always with one foot in the ancient history and mysticism. Tawnee was born and raised in a four sided glass pyramid in Southern California. She is most at home anywhere as long as she has her family.
