A story of love and death.
Alceste is the most beautiful daughter of Pelias, king of Iolcos in Thessaly. Admète is king of Pheres he received with dignity the god Apollon who had been punished by Zeus and had to undergo one year of servitude in a mortal’s house. Thanks to the help of grateful Apollo, Admète obtains to marry Alceste. The god asks for a favor from the Fates, the divinities of the Destiny : Admète will be warned of the day of his death and will be able to remain alive if someone agrees to take his place. When the fatal day arrives, Alceste shows thus that she is ready to leave her own life for the man she loves. This devotion arouses general emotion and admiration: the severe infernal goddess Persephone is touched by it to the point of letting Alceste go back to earth to find her family. | Posted on 19/Mar/2023 19:51:08
