Micaela Diamond Instagram – Sky smith wrote an opinion piece with me and it was published in the New York Times today. On a red couch in Chapaqqua, NY, we decided to write about all of the discussions and debates we had exchanged over the last several months. These conversations included but were surely not limited to: why people have a hard time admitting antisemitism is racism, the massive effect “Parade” had on both of us, and the way my identity as a Jew has changed since playing Lucille.
As Tom Stoppard says, “Writers aren’t sacred, but words are. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.” Sky, I think you are sacred actually. You and your words. Thank you for them. And for nudging my world in the most thoughtful and beautiful ways.
