In 2014, she joined @virginia_johnsondth of @dancetheatreofharlem & Pillow Scholar-in-Residence @maurakeefe in a conversation titled ‘Black Ballerinas’ to share her experiences in the ballet world. She discovered ballet on a basketball court in San Pedro, CA, and after only 4 years of intense training, she joined @abtofficial. In 2015, she became the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer in ABT’s 75-year history. Misty has used her time in the spotlight to work for change in the ballet world and serves as a role model for younger brown and black ballerinas worldwide.
