She’s an almost algorithmic sum of parts, tropes, dreams, and whims, amalgamated into a subject who becomes defined by her lack of defining features – without warts, wrinkles, moles, freckles, even thought once to be without eyelashes, her illuminated complexion is unmarked 🐚 Of course, there was a sitter – maybe there were a few. But the MYSTERY of her person contrasts with the INTIMACY that we feel in her gaze.
