Happy New Year!!!
(Yeahhhh…I tried to put together a 2022 recap reel but got overwhelmed with the thousands of photos and videos I have on my phone of just Luca so didn’t bother…😅)
The word that summed up 2022 for us was GROWTH. Not an uncommon “word of the year”, but for us, epitomized the year perfectly for us as a family.
On the personal front, it looked like prioritizing our mental health, setting and sticking to boundaries with loved ones, growing as parents of a toddler though Luca’s first year, growing with each other in terms of taking more accountability, being more intentional at listening, communicating more effectively, ensuring our values guided our every decision, seeking to constantly improve ourselves and learning to say no to people and things that didn’t serve us positively.
Professionally, it meant making some shifts to find fulfillment through roles that would bring us happiness, push us beyond our comfort zones to learn new things while allowing us to make a meaningful impact in the work we do. For me, it also meant being a part of something bigger than myself- part of bigger change, being surrounded by people from diverse backgrounds who embrace nontraditional perspectives and experiences (like mine!), share my values and empower each other to be their best. I have been lucky enough to find all that and more.
We are going into 2023 a little bit older, wiser (and definitely with a lot more joint pain 😅) but with a renewed sense of optimism for what the future will bring. We still have so much to learn about each other, the world, raising a child and navigating everything else that we’ll go through, and I am just so grateful I get to do it with Joe by my side.
Thankful to have been able to see more of our friends and family across the U.S. this year, coming out of the pandemic, and excited for many more travels (internationally!) to come in the new year!

The Oregon coast! Of the many gorgeous coastal beaches and towns in this state, one of our most frequented ones (especially when anyone comes to visit us!) is Cannon Beach 🌊.
The iconic Haystack Rock 🪨 is accessible right from the beach and is an easy, 1.5 hour scenic drive from Portland metro. Cannon Beach has a quaint beach town bustling with saltwater taffy shops (with the wildest flavors!), people window shopping in charming little souvenir shops, loads of breweries, bars and restaurants surrounding a serene coastal residential area nestled in evergreens, mountains and a misty fog all year round (thanks to its own microclimate). You might get lucky on a rare sunny day, but it wouldn’t be a Pacific Northwest experience without a little nip in the air! 🏔️
We last brought Luca here when he was 8 months old, in a baby carrier, and now at 16 months all he wanted to do was chase his reflection in the glassy sand and fearlessly run into the ocean! Pictured: tiny human alone, dangerously close to the ocean; Not pictured: outgoing tide and 3 adults close by, constantly chasing him! 🌊

Watching you grow over these past two years has been a beautiful journey. Your heart-melting smiles, fully belly giggles, twinkling eyes filled with wonder and endless curiosity light up our world and have been constant sources of happiness and inspiration for your Dada and I.
At two years old, you are your own unique individual, and you are truly one awesome kid! As you’ve grown more independent and your unique personality has emerged stronger and stronger, we find ourselves marveling at how incredible of a person you are.
You are a bundle of endless energy and boundless love. Your sweet demeanor and playful spirit bring joy to everyone around you, and you remind us to slow down and embrace each moment with wonder, and find joy in the simplest of things…whether it’s imaginative play with your favorite Thomas & Friends trains (and every kind of vehicle that exists), singing your heart out when no one’s watching in your crib, dancing along to any genre of music, or exploring the outdoors like a true PNW adventure boy! You are also quite a mature and empathetic little dude, showing us immense patience as you clearly and confidently communicate your needs (something we’ll need more of as we enter “terrible twos” territory, but we have a feeling you won’t be too bad 😅), compassion with your warm hugs whenever we need one, and feeling your and others’ feelings so deeply!
