Rukmini Vijayakumar Instagram – While dancing, I’m taken into the imagination. Enveloped. Every performance is different. Some performances may allow me to traverse the journeys of the characters more freely, and in other performances I will have an intellectual awareness that steps out to guide my technique every now and again. Sometimes the physicality and rhythm are like flowing rivers that need no reigning in. They need no reminders to wade through the rocks and to find moments of stillness in the pools of the lakes. However at other times, I have to push my body to find precision at the end of 2 hours. But there is one thing that is constant…, my sincere efforts to try to be better. Without any complacency, I attempt every time to do better than the last time. And by doing this, I know that I’m raising my lowest bar… I hope that I can always do better for my audiences who come so lovingly to share in this art of Bharatanatyam….
