Santhy Balachandran Instagram – My Gulmohar journey began with a set of auditions filmed in my bedroom in the thick of the pandemic. I am forever thankful to @eeshitnarain for remembering me from a blink and miss role I did in a music video he shot in 2017, and putting me on the radar of @dilipkhussro and team who were then casting for the film. The universe does work in mysterious ways! I remember reading the pitch deck the team shared and not just being impressed with the sensitivity with which Reshma’s character and background had been described by @rahulchittella and @pita625 ,but also being excited about the prospect of setting foot in a new industry in the company of veteran actors such as Sharmila Tagore, Manoj Bajpayee, Simran and Amol Palekar — names that carry an aura all their own; names that ceased to just be names over the course of a month long shoot. Almost exactly a year later, with some of the best memories and friends I have made in my fledgeling career, I am so grateful for the sense of community Rahul created on set. This one’s for my warm, talented, generous co-actors — the legends and the legends-in-waiting — who made being Reshma Saeed so easy.
