Tika Sumpter Instagram – Happy Mother’s Day to all! Motherhood is messy. We don’t always get it right but when we do, it feels really good. When our mini’s say “please and thank you” to strangers, when they sit at a restaurant and act like a decent human, when they are kind and helpful to others, when they have the courage to literally ask if someone will be their friend? If the answer is no, they try again with someone else. That’s us mamas. Some of the most exhausting mothering is being consistent with saying what we mean and meaning what we say, so we are able to send good humans into the world, to be good to other humans. To those who try to mix old school sternness and new school listening and speaking in love while also being stern, bravo! We need both. Love to my own mom who use to give me “the look” and “who are you talking to?” moments. I get it now. They are very useful! To those who are trying to conceive and are having a hard time and desperately want to become a mom, I hold you up today. Which ever way you made it to this journey, I’m sending you a big hug.
