I had to stop.
To bear witness,
To the heroic Sun.
Fighting through
The dust and smoke,
Blazing defiantly
In the face of our
Fatal indifference
Incandescent,
As only it can be.
I had to stop.
I couldn’t carry on
Any more
Leached of life
And color like this.
I had to stop.
For the Sun died
A death worthy
Of a poem,
To remind me
Of Majesty.
