NEXT MONTH WE GO TO CAMP 🎭 @theatercampthemovie
Tonight is our 100th performance of @paradebway. It is not often in life that the universe truly and completely aligns. It is once in a blue moon that so many layers of necessary and intertwined things are allowed to happen in one fell swoop, and at just the right moment. This story needed to resurface in the face of modern anti-semitism. We needed another chance to remember Leo & Lucille Frank. This beloved piece of art that Jason and Alfred and Hal made needed it’s proper due, in front of a wider contemporary audience, and as such it needed @michaelarden to give it the kind of true reinvigoration and visionary reimagining that only a great revival can accomplish. The challenging, complicated material needed every member of this extraordinary company that came together, brimming with talent and specificity and willing to carry this difficult history forward in every single, tiny moment. And we all needed @micaela_diamond, very badly (I know I did). What a rare blessing to say we all got everything we needed and more. Awards are lovely, but ultimately they are beside the point. So before whatever goes down tomorrow, I just wanted to take the occasion of our 100th show to express how honored, humbled and deeply proud I am to be part of Parade. As a Jew and lifelong musical theater devotee, the experience of Leo has already been, as we say, dayenu. There are 8 more weeks before this production is lost to the sands of broadway time, and I beseech you not to be the girl that missed it. ♥️
