Happy 18 Gracie
Long ago I had a dream
That I would meet a child that might have been
And now this child that I’d foreseen
Is my smiling tiny tall girl
And my cool moonbeam
And sometimes you might ride in a fine limousine
Or bounce on a pure silk trampoline
And some days you rock as the TikTok queen
And may yet grace the cover of Vogue magazine
But I know that behind the scenes
You’re still my smiling tiny tall girl
And my cool moonbeam
And fortune might gift you
An Oreo Supreme
Or a golden Versace submarine
Or the very best seat on a time machine
Or the whole of the England football team
But I’ll always see you
In your downtime, offscreen,
As my smiling tiny tall girl
And my cool moonbeam
Messing with glitter and plasticine
Or tending your crystals
Or letting off steam
Trying to keep your bedroom clean
Climbing the walls in quarantine
Turning your nose up at tinned sardines
Dressed up as a spider for Halloween
You’re a lark
You’re a scream
You’ve just got to be seen
Yes you’re the child that might have been
Who waved to me from deep in dream
You came through
You came true
And now you’re eighteen
My smiling tiny tall girl
My cool moonbeam

Gracie with one of her gifts (that tiny G around her neck, not the orange car behind us)
This Danny Mays bloke looked quite familiar. Can’t remember where I’ve seen him before. Anyway he, the whole cast, musicians and crew of Guys and Dolls blew me away and forced me, against my will, to be as happy as I look in these pics. Danny as Nathan Detroit makes Frank Sinatra look like an amateur. Also an added bonus when I ran into a wicked old friend, the mighty Kristen Chenoweth, backstage.
Another beautiful and uplifting night at the theatre. What’s going on? I didn’t think I was a big fan of musicals till seeing two such amazing productions in one month. Now I want to be in one, write one, live as though life is one. (Note to agent – I don’t really want to be in one. Or more correctly, musicals don’t want me to be in them. They said so)
Finally – the pink hair? What about it? Shut up.

Happy 18th Birthday Gracie. Hermine and I made this little chunk of fun for Gracie’s 10th. Thought it was worth sharing with everyone for her 18th.
Let’s face it folks, fun doesn’t get any better than this.
Saw this in a flea market the other day and, in an unforgivable and near fatal moment of flawed judgement, didn’t buy it for you.

Astonishing. I have rarely been so moved in the theatre. Posted @withregram • @nationaltheatre ‘It was my safest place. It was home.’ 💚
Wishing the cast and crew of Grenfell: in the words of survivors all the best for press night.

A powerful new verbatim play from the testimony of residents at the heart of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
