Jared Harris Instagram – The 1960s strike established an actor’s right to participate in the financial rewards of their work via residuals, and also established a pension & health fund.
The 1980s strike was over the issue of residuals for what was then the disruptive new media – video cassettes/VHF & pay television.
This strike is about the latest evolution of ‘new media’.
History has shown the AMPTP won’t make a deal because it’s the right thing to do, or out of ‘fair play’, but because they saw we were prepared to fight for it.
I stand in solidarity with my union, @sagaftra, and am grateful for the strength & solidarity among our Guild.
