Artemis Pebdani Instagram – RP • @centerforhumanrights Iranian dissident artist and civil rights activist Atena Farghadani, a former political prisoner, was summoned to Tehran’s Evin prison courthouse and detained, her lawyer Mohammad Moghimi tweeted.
Faraghdani was sentenced to 12 years and nine months in prison in June 2015 for drawing members of the Iranian Parliament as animals and posting the cartoon on her Facebook page to protest legislation against birth control. After the launch of an international campaign for her freedom, she was released in May 2016.
