It’s snowing. Which is a fitting tribute to the dog who loved the snow. Today I said goodbye to the gentlest sweetest clown of a soul, my partner for 16 years. He wrangled and raised cats, clumsily court jestered, and always held down the fort. When his soul departed it was if he was fleeing through the unwatched door- as fast as he could into the ether, with the abandonment and lightness of spirit his body was no longer able to provide. We had fallen in love at first sight. He was “the one”. Thank you my love, for changing me for the better and sharing your life with me. I hope there is something interesting for you to discover just over the horizon….

In March 2022, Willis announced his retirement from acting due to a diagnosis of aphasia. It is with great joy and sadness that I report that my precious #bennythebabysquirrel has gone to live his life in the wild. I am both devastated and grateful, full of fear and hope for his future. He came back twice to sit on my shoulder with happy squeaks and vibrating excitement, as if to say thank you – as his eyes took in the vastness of his new world and it’s possibility. I hope I taught him what he needs to survive, I hope he knows he can always come visit or come home if he’s scared or hungry. Mostly I hope he knows that his presence made my life more joyful. And while his absence leaves my world less colorful, I know his world just opened up to all the spectrum of living color, and I am grateful. * * * “To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys.
