«My short movie has a metaphorical meaning, but there is also the abuse I suffered as a young girl. I took that element of my past and made it into a universal female narrative. We women are treated like that, used – and I know what that means, but I didn’t mean the movie to be a therapy. No, I wanted to show what it means when they lead you to doubt yourself. By putting it down on paper I understood it all the way through, shaped that awareness and turned it into a collective journey».

While she makes her directorial debut, Bella Thorne tells her story in an exclusive interview for Vanity Fair’s digital cover.

«Il mio cortometraggio ha un significato metaforico, ma ci sono anche gli abusi che ho subito da ragazzina: ho preso quell’elemento del mio passato per farlo diventare un racconto universale al femminile. Noi donne veniamo trattate così, usate… e io so cosa significa, ma non ho girato il corto perché fosse una terapia. No, ho voluto mostrare cosa significa quando ti portano a dubitare di te stessa. Mettendolo nero su bianco l’ho capito fino in fondo, ho dato forma a quella consapevolezza e l’ho trasformata in un viaggio collettivo».
