I’m sorry y’all but thank fucking god I write and direct and produce in addition to acting because my acting union has me losing faith left and right with its straight up stupidity. 1. First off- our concerns should be VERY similar to the writers. Actors, no longer receive residuals due to steaming. Soooo, we understand that writers deserve residuals but don’t think that actors do!? I die. Also, AI!? Hello 2. Even where residuals are legally deserved (network television, resales etc) sagaftra has ADMITTED that they no longer have the bandwidth to track residuals! I personally have been on a show where the studio just straight up DIDN’T PaY US the residuals we deserved until we opened up an investigation. If you care, the first paycheck after they got caught to series regulars was $13k. $13000 for each of the 10 series regulars (130k+) Actively hidden & notpaid for because studios know they can get away with it. (I only guest starred but I got paid too post investigation) 3. @sagaftra has approved embarrassingly low contracts. $315ish day rate on certain “low budget NETFLIX contracts for a guest star SMh! (And I fucking LOVE Tim Robinson’s sketch show, but miss me with this sh** approved by my union.) Don’t vote to approve that, people, you’d make more serving tables, trust. 4. As the industry is finally casting more diverse actors they are not PAYING them and there are no safeguards against the nonsense. I personally was essentially a series regular on MULTIPLE shows. 9/10 episodes etc (which IS MORE than a fractional series regular) BUT as they disrespect people of color, I was paid as a GUEST star on all said shows (I’m Dying Up Here on Showtime, Hulu’s Chance and NBC’s Champions) that’s not glamorous fam, that’s not living, don’t get it twisted…After manager and agents and taxes, good luck getting a cute premiere dress after u pay the rent on ur 1 bedroom apartment. (You deserve better everyone!) 5. If we don’t protect our futures there will be nothing and we should have gone on strike in 2008. 6. This is ignorant, fear-based bullshit and it’s so embarrassing.
