Iskra Lawrence Instagram – This was NOT one of those exciting house moves We felt forced out of our rental right + it was right after finding out the contractor working on our forever home renovation stole $300k from me (storytime on my YouTube) I felt shaken, scared and embarrassed I ended up here and having to uproot my family I knew I couldn’t do this without the best possible moving team so I did what Virgo’s do best… googled hundreds of reviews and found the best 4.9 ⭐️ (basically 5⭐️) moving company in Austin @heavenlymove And thank the Lord I did, because our new landlords didn’t get the utility info to me soon enough – so no electricity, 110F in Texas and it was a 3 day move🥵 The heavenly went above and beyond, and in fact we bonded so much and loved working with them we ended up throwing Andres (the team leader) a mini birthday and of course straight after it was back to the grind🔥 @heavenlymove gave me a link for you to get $150 off your move + VIP treatment (link in bio) Here’s what I’ve learnt about downsizing👇 1. Donate, donate, donate (give and let go, if you haven’t worn it in the last year, if it doesn’t bring you joy it has to go) 2. Colour coordinated labels help so much and stick them on the side and top of each box / item so everyone knows which room it goes in 3. Label the rooms in the new home also 4. Get the utilities turned on in advance🫠 5. Get help if you can afford a moving company add that into your budget, we saved money by packing ourselves but ngl I would defo try and save up to have pros pack next time too 6. If you can’t afford movers then let all your friends and family know you need their help because it’s A-LOT and especially with our kiddo I felt awful that my parents weren’t here to entertain him but luckily our amazing friends took him for playdate and it helped so much with my busy mom guilt 6. Measure the new house and your current furniture and sell on FB market (or similar) whatever doesn’t fit or isn’t your style 7. Buy bulk drinks and snacks for everyone involved in the move 8. Change your address with USPS 2 weeks before your move 9. Keep a box of essentials that isn’t moved to the very last minute Continued in comments.. Austin, Texas
