I read this quote today doing research for an upcoming interview. The words hit me like a ton of bricks. Think about it. We often focus on only “seeking” joy. We can become obsessed with the high that joy brings – a new car, a new job, a new lover, a trip, and even a silly number on a scale… But these are fake highs. They are temporary. The newness will fade. The joy fades every time even if only slightly.
So what I heard in Sadhguru’s words boils down to the deeper meaning of what joy looks like. We seek it. We get it. Then soon enough we are empty again.
Instead what brings true joy is simple in a weird way. “Expressing” joy – It’s slightly different. It feels warm. It’s magnetic – not selfish like seeking. It’s opening yourself to being vulnerable and letting love in, even if you are scared. Expressing joy means you are sharing not taking.
I’ve been expressing my joy through dance, laughter, loving myself (flaws & all) and by living in the joy of NOW – not in the past and not in the future. I’ll keep you posted. 🌻
