Manava Naik Instagram – An unexpected visitor! This fellow dropped down from the sky! Literally… Long neck, long beak, duck feet… obviously my fairy tale mind said… The Ugly Duckling….. this is a swan!!! But Sucharita Apte identified it as a cormorant. She said there are no swans in Mumbai 😂🤦🏻‍♀️. Subadult, juvenile…. cordon him off! Give water, secure him!!!!! So we pushed him to a corner in the compound and went up to get something to cordon him! When i came down, a cat had smelled her pray! She was there standing 1 foot away from the bird… to attack! My blood gushed… I yelled.. the cat disappeared. Our small fellow was then kept safe in here. BNHS, google Numbers, Animal help websites, PETA… tried all but no one responded! So Sucharita gave me a number and he gave another number and then another and Yohoooooooo 2 archangel came from thin air… rescued the fellow! They knew exactly how to catch and hold this bird! As our 2 hour visitor left… he took a part of me along! where will you take him, to the doctor, bird sanctuary… i poured questions and the rescuers gave me confidence!!!
