Maintaining balance is crucial especially as we start to get older. Having good balance helps in preventing falls, injury, and simply making your daily activities easier to perform. Maintaining balance is a complex task that requires coordination from your muscles, tendons, bones, eyes, ears and brain.
I did not know this then, but when I would take the Mumbai local, I wouldn’t use any support and do my best to use my own balance in the moving train. I did it more as a fun thing, a challenge for myself but that’s helping me now.
A lot of fractures, injuries occur due to falls and later in life, the recovery from them becomes difficult, so you want to keep a good body balance.
You can improve your body balance by walking, biking, stretching, vitamin D, you can in all situations use your own body to balance where ever possible, as long as it’s safe.
I started with body weight squats, then 15 pounds and then I moved to 30 straight. Not the best idea and my squats weren’t either deep or the right form.
Must get the Bosu ball for the home gym.
