Systems of oppression are not going to overthrow themselves. June 21-27 available at @christiesinc auction benefitting @mapsnews - LINK IN MY PROFILE! Acrylic, textile and faux fur on canvas 20 x 16 in + digital certificate of authenticity ‍I use textile because it was traditionally labeled as low art/crafts, female work - and because I was forced to work with textile in my penal colony. Splashes of acrylic paint on the fabric are reminiscent of my 🩸 getting spilled on police and military uniforms that I was sewing in prison, injured by old and outdated equipment. This piece is a reflection on PTSD, the courage required to face hope, and to reject fear.

Pussy Riot – CRAWLING (action). During the action, Pussy Riot members in military uniforms crawled around the key locations of Moscow, reminding citizens that no one will be able to sit out or remain silent during the war. The war started by Putin must be ended – with his regime.

Life imitates art or the other way around?
