Nicole Dambro Instagram – I proudly celebrated my friends at the Beverly Hills Film Festival this year, and it was magical. Their films were beautiful and daring, plus @jar_ent2021 threw a cool banger that I somehow managed to get only one selfie at (and none with @jen_lovespeanut and her cute outfit!)
Being able to celebrate a work of art that you put your blood, sweat and tears into is so wonderful it’s practically a religious experience. Every filmmaker deserves that… and because of the studios’ unwillingness to negotiate with the actors and writers guilds who create their masterpieces, there are now many artists that will not get to celebrate their big nights. They won’t get to celebrate the premiere of their first big break, or their return to the screen, or their first transition into the writer-actor double hyphenate… and that infuriates me. But not as much as the studios’ plan to force writers into poverty, so that they will accept a shit deal.
The strikes are an important showdown between corporate greed and the labor unions. If you don’t think this affects you because you’re not in Entertainment… You’re wrong. This is about all of us.
I stand with SAG-AFTRA and the WGA. ✊
