Sipiwe Moyo Instagram – Today Koliwe Ntokozo Moyo Stephens would have turned 46 years old. And I need to tell you about her. I need you to know that she was truly the funniest person I ever met. She started making up her own words as a baby and continued to do so for the rest of her life and they were the perfect words for things that had gone unnamed, like “Taytee” to describe a particular type of sour breath. She read more voraciously than anyone else I knew. She read everything from high literature to trashy romance novels. She was like that with people too: open to all kinds. She made a practice of non-judgement and always tried to understand from the perspective of others probably because she yearned for that kind of understanding for herself. Sadly, her passing has made the way I talk about her so solemn, which isn’t a fit for her at all. Koliwe was full of life, love, and laughter and everything she did she did with passion and joy in her heart. She felt deeply and loved deeply. She used to say “I don’t understand how anyone could ever be bored”…she could entertain herself by simply watching people and wondering about their lives. And she very much had a hand in the things I like most about myself today. I don’t just miss my big sister, the world is missing her. A lot of greatness is missing from this world without her.
