Tonight at midnight our first song from this season of @onlymurdershulu premieres. What an absolute thrill to be a part of this show, with a mind-blowing cast and the most wonderful collaborators. Thanks to @sasgoldie and @johnnyhoffman5 for letting us take part in your beautiful Upper West Side shenanigans and thanks to dream collaborators @sarabareilles, @thelivingmichaeljackson, @marc_shaiman and @scottwittman for creating this fictional musical together. A special shout-out to team music @ianeisendrathmusic, @patrickthepianist, @cynthiameng, @august_j_eriksmoen @derik_lee @danielle_perelman, @savshankhank and director @adamshankman. Be sure to tune in and sing along this season. It was the most fun version of theatre summer camp imaginable and I can’t believe we got to play in the sandbox with such an inspiring group of humans. ❤️

Happy Pride Month. 😘
Today we caught the phenomenal company of the @dearevanhansen tour in Buffalo, NY. The tour launched in 2018 and officially closes next week. This was the last performance @justinpaulmusic and I will ever see of the original production. It was bittersweet, oh so nostalgic and very emotional. Thanks to the cast and crew for breathing life into these characters and telling this story with such conviction over all of these years. It’s been such beautiful gift. Happy trails. ❤️
Pro-tip. Find a cousin who is your age and also gay and force him to go on vacations with you.
Oh, my magical friend John. He created so much beauty and laughter, joy and mischief, community and care around him. He was everyone’s biggest champion, connector and megaphone for their latest play or musical, art show or book. He had the most elegant demeanor, the nastiest humor, and cultivated the most interesting of circles. The common denominator was, of course, him, and the kind and witty, deeply loving and soulful human he was. He will be so missed. I have so many stories over the years full of gossip and intrigue, but what I’ll remember most is the way John lifted people up and shouted from the rooftops to advocate for his friends. He found a home in NYC after growing up without many resources in Ireland and forged a path here to build the most fantastical life for himself, swirling with music and poetry, paintings, plays and people. He made a family of friends. He cultivated a life that was precious and beautiful and inspiring. He was charming and unapologetically queer, deliciously handsome and downright fucking fabulous. He would give free haircuts to hot men he wanted to know or call you to come into his salon to sit you next to someone who would change the course of your entire life because you met them there. He was selfless in so many ways and truly a one-of-kind human. He was the kind of man you move to New York City to hope to meet and the kind of man you move to New York City and hope to become. He embodied the best of a magic that feels impossible to bottle or properly describe. He made people feel beautiful. Sending love to all of those who knew him and loved him. The world lost a great one today. @johnbar_ @johnbarrettnyc

So inspired by @theferocity and @zachstaff after witnessing a live recording of their podcast Vibe Check tonight at the @92ndstreety. Getting to be a fly on the wall as they traversed topics of race, sexuality, love, violence, compassion, self-betrayal and grace from the perspectives of being black queer men was a real gift on the eve of Pride in NYC. They’re incisive and smart, hilarious and entertaining, deeply empathetic and extremely thought-provoking. Listen to their show and soak up their incredible wisdom. ❤️
