Here are 3️⃣ steps white people can take to support Black maternal health:⁣ ⁣ 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭⁣ ⁣ The National Partnership for Women and Families tells us that Black women in the United States are more likely to die from pregnancy or childbirth than women in any other race group. Thousands of Black parents have shared personal stories of how they’ve been affected by the iniquities and racism present in our country.⁣ ⁣ Use resources like @npwf, @4kira4moms, @theirthapp & @sistersong_woc to hear real stories and fully absorb the truth: this is a national crisis.⁣ ⁣ 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭⁣ ⁣ Speak up with your friends, providers and colleagues. By bringing this conversation into white spaces, you can use your privilege and access to make a difference. Use your network to make a difference and elevate the voices of people of color who educate on this topic.⁣ ⁣ 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬⁣ ⁣ Support Black doulas by giving money to or volunteering with organizations that train and equip them.⁣ ⁣ Hold an alternative baby shower where guests donate to these groups instead of buying gifts (great for a “sprinkle” when it’s not your first baby!).⁣ ⁣ You don’t have to be wealthy or have a ton of free time to make a difference.
