Dave Leduc Instagram – Hi everyone, I have an important message… I am very grateful and fortunate that my career has made me live so many great moments. I want to thank everyone who always supported me. I was honored to fight great battles and share the ring in my prime with the best Lethwei fighters. I was also fortunate to have fought many times in Tokyo, Japan and to have contributed to bringing Lethwei in the USA.
I was the first Lethwei fighter to become an ambassador for the conglomerates Canal and 1xbet and made history as the first Lethwei fighter to make the cover of the renowned @karatebushido magazine what an honor after martial artists such as Bruce Lee (1974), Van Damme (1993), Bas Rutten (1997), Rickson Gracie (1998), Fedor (2007), GSP (2008), Francis Ngannou (2019).
I have dedicated my career and my life to promoting Myanmar Lethwei to the world. I conducted around 100 Lethwei seminars in 30 countries, which had never been done before in the history of the sport. I waved the Myanmar flag in all my travels, and we can now be very proud that Lethwei is being practiced all around the world.
I defended the Golden Belt title 9 times from many different international challengers under traditional rules (KO only to win) and remained undefeated. I am proud to say that I was able to hold all the major Openweight belts. I sacrificed blood, sweat, and tears to get to the top of Lethwei and these titles are my rewards. Thank you to my mentor @sifupatrickmarcil for everything.
I will now focus on my family, business, and opening the @LeducLethwei MMA & Fitness gym (location TBD).
The state of the world and the situation in Myanmar in the last 3 years has made it incredibly difficult for me to continue my career… It’s a very sad time as citizens including some Lethwei fighters have been injured or arrested. Recently I was very saddened to hear that Too Too, my former opponent has been killed in custody.
I want to thank everyone for the continuous support, but I am officially retiring from Lethwei & professional fighting. I have been invited to make one last fight in Cambodia under Kun Khmer, it will be my last competition. Thanks for the amazing ride, love you all 👊🏼💛 | Posted on 13/Aug/2023 04:40:33
