James Valentine Instagram – A passionate environmentalist, Maroon 5’s James Valentine was aware of how touring affects the environment, but he was also shocked to discover how often instruments are made from rare woods that are illegally logged. Illegal logging leads to deforestation, climate change, human rights violations, job cuts, economic losses and species extinction.
In VERSED: The ASCAP Podcast, James discusses how he and @maroon5 have worked with the non-profit environmental advocacy organization @reverb_org on tour since 2005 and how REVERB artist expeditions to the rainforests of Guatemala and Peru has helped him raise awareness about the harmful effects of deforestation on people and the environment.
James and REVERB ask people to question where their wood is coming from as a part of their No More Blood Wood Campaign. Artists that have signed REVERB’s No More Blood Wood pledge include Maroon 5, Lana Del Rey, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson and Deborah Harry of Blondie.
