Aarthi Instagram – Dear Aarav, Last night after I tucked you into bed, I crawled back into your room like I do everyday to watch your tender face asleep, legs so long and arms so lanky. It was only one second ago that you were running around in your diapers, it was only one second ago you were dancing under the shower like a rockstar, it was only one second ago… my mommy heart swells like it might burst watching you lay still deep in dreams. Motherhood has made me so strong yet so fragile and vulnerable. I am constantly at guilt thinking about the moments I miss in your life… a bunch of emails that required correspondence, that wardrobe cleaning, unavoidable meetings, just all this busyness filling me with regret. But you forgive me faster and love me harder than anyone in my life. Please stop growing, please keep growing. Being a mom is a constant battle of anticipation and letting go. I can’t even handle the thought. So I don’t think. Quoting a line from my favourite baby book… ‘I love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.’ I understand that book now. I understand why an old lady would sneak into her son’s room at night.
