Hillary Clinton Instagram – As a public servant, an activist, and president of the NAACP New York State Conference, Dr, Hazel Dukes has spent her entire life lifting up others in pursuit of justice. It was a joy to have a chance to celebrate her long history of public service and activism last night in Boston.
I had the honor of presenting Hazel with the Spingarn Medal for Outstanding Achievement, the @NAACP’s highest honor.
From her work as the first Black employee in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office in 1966 to her time serving as the first Black vice-chair of the Nassau County Democratic Committee—and throughout her various leadership roles at the NAACP—Hazel has broken countless barriers to bring long-lasting social change. It would be impossible to count the number of lives she’s touched.
Congratulations, and thank you, Hazel!
