We were in Vancouver / Granville island for the last few days. Today in the early hours of twilight we pushed away from Granville island and began our journey towards Salt Spring Island. When we arrive we will@be greeted by the Wsanwc peoples and some kanaka too! Cant wait!
Here’s some photos from the last stop. Mostly pictures I’ve taken for Kaleiwohi with her favorite doll Hau(wahine). But also a picture of an aunty (Kau’i) I met in Vancouver who grew up with my ‘Ohana in Keaukaha. She said she remembers my great grandmother. Kūpaianaha nō.
No matter where we are we’re all thinking about home and our Ohana who have been suffering in the wake of these fires. I am inspired by the way our community has come together yet again to support the needs of our people while our local government and federal agencies take their damn time.. doing god knows what.
