Jennette McCurdy Instagram - speaking at the sydney opera house was unforgettable !! years ago, i hit what i consider my “rock bottom” in australia, in the backseat of an uber, while looking at the sydney opera house from afar, down a tooth and a lot of hope, fresh off purging my tim tams. i was at a place where i didn’t really believe things could get better, but knew if there was any chance of that happening, of things changing, that i was gonna have to start by changing the only thing i had any control over: myself. to have gone back to australia now, years later, under completely different circumstances - for a career i am proud of and, more importantly, as a person i am proud of - and to connect with an audience in a real, meaningful way (IN THE FUCKING SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE ITSELF !! ) was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for me. thanks to the @sydneyoperahouse for having me out, to @rosiewaterland for conducting an incredibly nuanced and thoughtful conversation with grace and humor and everything in between, and of course to every one of you who came out to the event. you were an insightful, good-humored bunch and i’m so glad and grateful to have spent some time with you. afterward, i celebrated with a half-sleeve of tim tams, all of which remain unpurged. ps yes my trip aesthetic was “full tourist”.
