Jona Xiao Instagram – My boyfriend did the most loving thing he could do for us…he broke up with me.
Honestly, it still feels surreal, but I know this is the best for both of us, as our values are not compatible enough for both of us to thrive within the relationship.
I just watched The Breakup yesterday (had no idea I was going to get broke up with later that day) and a I wrote this down as a takeaway, “I want to be with someone who WANTS to do the dishes, without them having to sacrifice who they are/want to be.” Him giving me the level of connection that would make the relationship a level 10 for me would be sacrificing his need for independence. So, we’d never be able to both me at a 10, so our ceiling was capped, and he said “I know you’ll find someone who together you can be at a level 20.”
Now it makes sense…a while back I rated my relationship satisfaction an 8 and he rated it a 3-5. And a couple weeks ago, he rated it an 8 and I said 4-6.
I was having mixed feelings about our relationship and asked the universe yesterday for a sign to point to whether we should stay together or break up and to make it obvious enough that I would see the sign. Well, I got what I asked for, him saying “my intention coming over tonight is to break up,” was obvious enough for SURE. 😜
The ending of a relationship doesn’t mean failure to me. Tim & I had so much love, growth, and support for one another and I’m SO SO SO grateful to have had the journey that we did.
