Julie Ann Emery Instagram – These two pix have a special spot in every home I live in. My Poppa Stowers with his battalion in WW2 in France. He drove between front line encampments and fixed tanks. (Back row left side) But what he took away from the war were the men he served with. I loved when I could get him to talk about them. He rode a train from TN to California for Basic training. And served with a lot of Mexican men who had the courage to join the US army knowing they would be deployed. He respected the work ethic, temperament, and love of life these brave immigrant men had. These qualities aligned with his upbringing. I keep these pix in my home to remind me of our Vets. Their honor and dedication and sacrifice. And to remember that my sweet Poppa, who showed me love and positive masculinity rather than toxic, went through something horrific and eventually came out the other side with his soul and compassion in tact. Thx Poppa. You handsome, beautiful soul. I miss you on this Earth. #memorialday
