Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg,
Department of Transportation Disability Policy Advisor Kelly Bucklund,
The Honourable Tony Coelho,
and Disability Rights leaders and advocates.
Disabled people are impacted daily by inaccessible transportation, creating significant barriers to employment, education, healthcare, and community.
This lack of accessible transit fundamentally inhibits our independence, quality of life, and full participation in society, underscoring the urgent need for equitable solutions.
During todays convening on accessible transportation the The Vice President said, “An accessible America is a better America”. And the following items were discussed,
• Department of Transportation (DOT) Accessible Lavatories on Aircraft rule
• Accessible Air Travel
• All Stations Accessibility Program
• Airport Terminals Program
• US Access Board and DOT
• Enhanced Mobility of Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities Section 5310
I am left with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and hope.
I am so thankful to those who have been doing this work for decades, and people like my friend and business partner, @sophlmorg who has positively impacted the lives of so many disabled people and has made critical legislative change.
