Kirsten Gillibrand Instagram – When you don’t have the right to privacy, you don’t have the right to reproductive health care. You don’t have civil liberties or bodily autonomy. And you have no right to privacy in any sphere of your life — not even when you message your mother for help.
Kirsten Gillibrand Instagram – I don’t know about you, but I’m so sick of running as fast as I can, wondering if I’d get there quicker if I was a man. The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) has cleared every single hurdle to become the 28th Amendment to our constitution, and @coribush and I are on #TheERATour pushing for it to become law now. Are you ready for it?

The ERA would constitutionally prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex and prohibit states from continuing to strip away our rights. From equal pay to reproductive health care to protecting LGBTQ+ rights, the ERA takes all my friends to the summit. It’s been a long time coming, but I know this is a fight that someday we’re gonna win. The ERA was passed by both houses of Congress and ratified by the necessary number of states. We stand on the shoulders of generations of fearless women. Now all we need is for the archivist of the United States to certify and publish the ERA as the 28th Amendment to our Constitution.

You say that the past is the past, but I can’t not think of all the cost and the things that will be lost if we don’t speak now. But if we persist and resist, constitutional equality is just a matter of time, up there’s the finish line. The ERA has a Blank Space, all we need is for the archivist to write her name! #TheERAsTour
