My Barbies were all reporters and I dreamed that they ruled the world …it never occurred to me that I couldn’t. My daughter and I watched the Barbie movie together and we related differently, but the same. It challenged our views of perfection, stereotypes and how we view the experience of being human. It was nostalgic (I had to confirm that yes, there really was a “magic earring” Ken and a dog that actually pooped!) It was also a resounding response to feminist critics through brilliant performances from Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling and that one perfect speech from America Ferrara!
