Marsha Thomason Instagram – Meet Daphne and Zephaniah, my late maternal grandparents who came to Britain from Jamaica in the 1950’s upon an invitation from the British government, with promises of great opportunities. The reality they faced was very different than advertised. Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Windrush and I celebrate the contribution of my grandparents and all those whos sacrifices should never be underestimated. I’m also thinking of those families still waiting for compensation from @10downingstreet and @ukhomeoffice after the disgrace of the Windrush Scandal, which saw the Home Office deny residency rights and citizenship to many people who had been living in the UK legally for most, if not all of their lives.
