The voice is an idea who’s time has come . There have been 5 versions of the voice in the history of our nation and each one has been shut down by successive governments. That’s why it needs to be enshrined . It will be imperfect like any new idea refined over time . It’s time we closed the gap by having our politicians respectfully listening to imput on policies that effect the lives of our First Nations people . This is not about race . It’s about respect and the reality that for 250 years our First Nations people have had laws made for them or that effect them in ways they don’t affect other Australians. If you are undecided I hope you look beyond the noise and see this is not a radical change to our constitution . It’s an invitation to listen. It’s time to take a step further away from our English roots and make the Westminster sytem more accountable to the fact that there was a people’s here before . They are still here . And 86% of First Nations people believe the voice will make a difference . Isn’t it time to listen ?
