The tournament website credits two people for saying it’s totally fine to kill sharks for fun because the samples are so valuable: Dr. Sean Powers of the University of Southern Alabama (public info [email protected] 251-460-7136) and Dr. James Marcus Drymon an assistant extension prof at @msstate (public info [email protected] 662-769-2264) have blood on their hands for calling this bloodbath science. Eli Roth Instagram – Hostel for sharks. This was @noaa at the tournament I filmed for #Fin. After, the fishermen dumped the carcasses. The NOAA scientist said she’d never return, realizing she was being used. We thought this would end. We were wrong. The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo went farther than any kill contest in the US and handed out prizes to killing a pregnant mother tiger shark and ripping out her 25 pups just days from birth and the fishermen took photos and made Tik toks while the scientists laughed. @deepseaguardians were there and got it all. We cannot stay quiet. We have to hit the sponsors on all platforms on all their social media pages. @iheartradio @cocacola @msstate @disealab @noaafisheries and all those who turned off social media comments hit them on Yelp and Google Reviews. See my other post for their info. And hit the state reps and Dauphin Island mayor and department of tourism and all the reps from Alabama. Ask them how they can possibly call this science. Trust your gut – you are not the crazy one. ANY TIME you see a shark on land someone is making money from its death. Watch my doc on @streamonmax @discoveryplus to see how horrible it is for sharks, why we all need them, and how you can speak up. We can all express ourselves in a respectful manner. The more respectful we are the less they can dismiss us. Don’t give them a reason. Tell Janet Coit at @noaafisheries this has to end.
Eli Roth Instagram – • THIS IS AMERICA 2023 •

As you have probably already seen, last weekend, July 21-23, the 90th Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo was held in Dauphin Island, Alabama, USA where Bull Sharks and Tiger Sharks were slaughtered to death for entertainment…

These species are respectively listed as Vulnerable of extinction and Near Threatened by the IUCN !

This barbaric event was sponsored by huge companies such as @iheartradio, @cocacola, yamahamotorusa and more who gave thousands in prizes to boats that killed the biggest shark possible.

A huge pregnant female Tiger Shark was slaughtered to death together with all the babies she was about to give birth to… Juvenile sharks were killed as well, some that haven’t even had time to reach sexual maturity and reproduce.

But the worst part of it all is that this awful event was supported by “scientists” from the @msstate university, @msu_marinefisheriesecology and @noaafisheries !

These “scientists” gave legitimacy to such an unnecessary slaughter and influenced the tournament organizers to bring back the shark killing category as we can read on the tournament website !!!

Even newspapers articles came out mentioning that these “scientists” were equally excited as the anglers themselves when it was time to open up that pregnant female and take all her babies out !!!

Hanging dead sharks under an American flag and displaying them in public has nothing to do with science !

There are non lethal ways to study sharks, yet these people supported this slaughter !

Science has to respect a certain ethic and if scientific publications don’t respect the welfare ethic protocol, publications can be taken down !

Please SHARE THIS POST to show everyone what is still happening in the United States of America in 2023 !

And TAG @noaafisheries, @msstate, @msu_marinefisheriesecology and @disealab to let them know that THIS IS NOT SCIENCE AND THIS IS NOT OK !!!
