James Van Der Beek Instagram – Boys trip! Took my son to NYC. The city that made me. Where I hoped, dreamed, pounded the pavement, hustled, cried, and eventually broke through and found myself – on the NY stage – at 16.
I walk differently there. Think differently. And the city felt like an old friend with whom I could pick back up right away..
The six-hour delay at the airport resulted in his first massage chair experience. The WTC memorial being closed to the public resulted in him getting to see the Statue of Liberty. And the Pokémon hat he had to beg me to buy resulted in more compliments and smiles than I could count.
Our favorite QB and friend going down in such heartbreaking fashion? Don’t see the silver lining on that one, yet. I’m a big believer that “purpose” can only become clear in the rear-view mirror… so we just had to be present with all the emotions around that one.
