Michael Patrick Kelly Instagram – Long before artists like George Michael and Prince stood up for the control over their music and ownership of their rights against unjust standards in the music industry, my father founded a Record Company and we were amongst the very first Music Artists to be registered at IFPI with our own Label.
He fought for artistic freedom and was often misunderstood in the show business and media, simply because he was different.
But he was a fearless man who didn’t care about the opinion of others.
I remember the moment when my Father told me, “Keep your spirit free!” like if it was yesterday. Those words had weight because he lived them in many ways.
Like every human being, he also had weaknesses and failures, but on this Father’s Day, I want to thank him in particular for having given me the spirit of freedom and fearlessness.
His heart for those in need and quick hand to help, certainly shaped part of my response-ability. But the greatest lesson he taught me as a Father was in the humble and courageous way he faced death.

All the angels did come
when you were ready to depart.”
I also want to honor all the “father figures” who accompanied me through life.
