(In the same disbelieving tone of thousands before her have used these past 30 years.) Children. With an equal dose of delight and dreams (and sometimes, heartbreakingly, despair) in them. There’s really no country like India. I went to one of our India U20 players, Tejas’ village, Kisrul, in Kolhapur district. Although I went to meet and thank his parents for their support of their son playing for the country, the entire village turned out – elders, women, children, local leaders. I only said one thing – Rugby in India is nothing without the support of whole villages getting behind their players. I thanked them and said I would return. And I will. How can you not. It makes everything we do @rugbyindia worthwhile.

Tucked away in a corner of North Bengal is the Saraswatipur Tea Estate. There are two small villages on the estate, that have, believe it or not, given Indian Rugby 14 national players. 14. All children of tea garden labourers. This is thanks to the incredible work @khelorugby and @futurehopeindia have done over the years in that area. I went there to talk to the families of these national players. I watched their parents working in a tea garden and thought of the times I have watched Indian fans cheering these players in a foreign land. What journeys. What stories. 😊💪🏾🙏🏾 @rugbyindia
