What a special day! Got the privilege of celebrating our national day of pride, India’s 77th Independence Day with the remarkable glow of Classical tradition and cultural significance.
Here, at Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, I am standing next to the golden replica of the original Sengol, the scepter that was used to commemorate the transfer of power from the British Raj to the Free and Independent Indian Republic. The artifact was inspired by the ancient Chola kingdoms and their public ritual of transferring a scepter from a king to his successor. And now, the Sengol lights up our new parliament building in Delhi.
It’s an overwhelming feeling to stand here and feel the tremendous forces of national and historical pride flowing within each and everyone here. A moment where the glorious ancient past has finally caught up with our bold and bright future.
