Amanda Gorman Instagram – Everyone has the right to seek asylum — including people crossing the Mediterranean Sea.

The recent shipwreck off the Greek coast is the latest in a long line of preventable disasters. It demonstrates both a failure to save lives and a failure to uphold the well-established right to seek safe haven. It is estimated that 100 children were in the ship’s hold, and that 500 people still remain missing.

Join us in calling on our leaders to do more to welcome refugees and create safe routes for people seeking asylum.

Amanda Gorman Instagram – Thank you to @americanlibraryassociation for having @theartoffun and me at the ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago last month! We had such a great time discussing our book, SOMETHING, SOMEDAY (September 2023, Viking Books for Young Readers) with @eve.ewing, and the energy in the room was so joyful.

Of course, a big thank you goes to my incredible illustrator, @theartoffun, for everything you’ve done to make this book so special, and @eve.ewing for being the best moderator we could have asked for!

I also want to thank all of the librarians, publishers, authors, and educators for their invaluable work and for attending on our discussion—I hope you enjoy sharing SOMETHING, SOMEDAY with all of the young people in your communities!
