Bree Essrig Instagram - Goodbye, sweet Riggs 💔 On Sunday I said goodbye to my best friend & it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I adopted Riggs from a shelter when I was a teenager & she was just a puppy. We shared 14 beautiful years together & I wouldn’t have changed any of it for the world. She was the sweetest, sassiest sausage & the best baby I could have ever asked for. She saved my life so many times & I’m so lucky we got to grow up together. If you ever got to meet her, you know she was very picky about who could give her affection & if she chose you, it was a very special feeling. The last 10 months have been the hardest of my life. Last November, she slipped a disc & had the most intense back surgery. We didn’t think she was gonna make it. The vet said she probably wouldn’t walk again. Three weeks later, Riggs proved them wrong & was back on her adorable little arthritic feet. She was such a fighter & I know she was probably fighting more for me at the end than for herself. There are a million more things I could say about her, she loved to lay in the sun, she was the queen of giving side-eye, & she loved sitting next to us in the hot tub & dipping her little tail in.
