Kate Beckinsale Instagram – So – those of you who have been following my stories the last couple of days have definitely had a little insight into the fairly constant fuckwittery and bullying that I can receive pretty regularly on this app.

What I want to say is first of all, I have been overwhelmed by the number of supportive and incredible messages I have received from kind strangers that outnumber and outweigh the arseholes by two million percent .

The second is this , and the reason I feel social media has the possibility of being such a loving and positive force – a few years ago I went on @fallontonight and told this story about my fake sneeze . I received a DM a week or so later (which sadly got lost ) from a woman who said her autistic 7 year old son had been entirely non verbal forever ,and then became obsessed with this sneezing clip,,kept requesting it over and over, and then suddenly said the first word he has ever said in his life and the word was “Achoo.”

May I thank all of you and most particularly that lady who I wish would message me again so I can thank her properly . She and you are why I stay on here and why I feel people are ultimately good and the chance to connect with strangers can be such an incredible gift . Unless you are a farty twatty man who thinks women should stay in the kitchen or some other irritant in which case it’s a gift in the sense of a poo wrapped in some sweating cling film. Love you , you the good ones , you the achoo-ing ones xxx
Kate Beckinsale Instagram – If yesterday has highlighted anything, it’s the grim reality of how dangerous male entitlement can be.
The root cause of this is misogyny. It’s patriarchy. It’s sexism repackaged as “being a better” or “real” man, by toxic social media influencers. It’s social media companies themselves allowing this content to be eaten up, unchallenged. It’s an entire society that turns a blind eye to the cause of violence towards women and girls.
None of these problems are new, they have just repeatedly been left to fester, morph and grow until we are at a place where a high profile public figure can come on live Tv and make misogynistic remarks about a woman, and the next day lament the death of a 15 year old girl by a boy – and not see how those actions are connected.
Misogyny breeds violence. It’s never just a comment, banter, a joke – it’s a culture that enables women to be seen as less than men. As disposable, without agency.
We didn’t need to have this horrific wake up call. It shouldn’t take the violent death of a teenage girl for society to listen.
Misogyny should be treated with the same severity as any other form of terror and violence. This isn’t something women should have to put up with anymore. Deepest condolences to the family and friends of 15 year old Elianne Andam, for all the light and life that has been taken from you . Again I am disabling comments out of respect to her and her family . Repost @cheerupluv
